Add up all of the numbers and divide by the number of numbers in the data set. The median is the central number of a data set. Arrange data points from smallest to largest and locate the central number. This is the median.

The median is the middle number in a sorted, ascending or descending, list of numbers and can be more descriptive of that data set than the average. The median is sometimes used as opposed to the mean when there are outliers in the sequence that might skew the average of the values.

There are 15 values, so using the formula (n + 1) / 2 and using n = 15 , we find that we need the 8th number in the sorted dataset. So the median is 28.

The average is calculated by adding up all of the individual values and dividing this total by the number of observations. The median is calculated by taking the “middle” value, the value for which half of the observations are larger and half are smaller.

Q1 is the median (the middle) of the lower half of the data, and Q3 is the median (the middle) of the upper half of the data. (3, 5, 7, 8, 9), | (11, 15, 16, 20, 21). Q1 = 7 and Q3 = 16.

The modal class is the class interval with the highest frequency in a frequency table. To find the modal class, we need to arrange the frequencies in an ascending order to find the highest frequency. Once the number is found, the class interval corresponding to the number is the modal class.

If there is an even number of observations, then there is no single middle value; the median is then usually defined to be the mean of the two middle values: so the median of 3, 5, 7, 9 is (5+7)/2 = 6.

To find the mean, add up the values in the data set and then divide by the number of values that you added. To find the median, list the values of the data set in numerical order and identify which value appears in the middle of the list. To find the mode, identify which value in the data set occurs most often.
